Westphalia – experience a horse enthusiastic region
(Pferdesportverband Westfalen/DKThR) Experience the Westphalian world of horses is the motto of the excursions on Sunday the 16th of August 2009. The Pferdesportverband Westfalen offers the guests of the International Congress for Therapeutic Riding two Bus tours connecting to the general programme.
Westphalia is a very special region. Breeding has a long tradition and many famous horses and successful competition riders are here at home. The last wild horses of Germany live here and every weekend offers stud shows, competitions and horse shows. Tourists are looking forward to idyllic horse farms, first-rate schooling and magnificent hacking tracks. And last but not least are all over the country the highly qualified therapeutic riding possibilities.
“A ramble through the Westpahalian world of horses” goes to the Merfelder Bruch to the unique Dülmener wild horses. The neighbouring Horseback riding centre Reken introduces a special concept for the popular sport. The breeding and schooling of Westphalian horses is presented by the stud Letter Berg. Later the Icelandic horse stud Lindedhof is visited. The crowning finish till be the world championship of driving for ponies in Greven.
“A look behind the scenes” shows the variety of therapeutic riding in Westphalia. The tour follows the riding club Kultur Aktiv to Dortmund and then into the Centre for therapeutic riding of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Lünen. Later the therapeutic riding centre in Münster and the Vinzenwerk in Handorf will be visited. The finish will be the world championship of driving for ponies as well.
